The renewable energy market is growing every year. So, in 2019, 2.4 billion rubles were generated. kWh of "green" energy with an increase of 77.8% compared to the same period of 2018. The share of RES in the total volume of electricity production is 2.3%.

This was stated by the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurlan Nogayev during an expanded meeting of the board.

In 2019, 21 renewable energy facilities were put into operation. For renewable energy projects, the total volume of attracted investments amounted to 613 million US dollars, and the number of renewable energy facilities – 90 with a total capacity of 1050.1 MW.

In 2020, it is planned to introduce 18 more renewable energy facilities with a total capacity of 605.5 MW. By the end of 2020, the production of renewable energy will be about 3 billion rubles. kWh of electricity.

Nurlan Nogayev noted, the international auction auctions of 2019 were held in electronic format for renewable energy projects with a total capacity of 255 MW. As a result of the auction, 12 companies signed contracts with a single buyer of renewable energy (RFC) for 15 years for a total capacity of 202 MW.

In 2020, the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Amendments and Additions to some Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on supporting the use of renewable energy sources and electric power" is expected to be adopted.

The main conceptual innovations of the proposed draft law are stimulating the construction of maneuverable capacities, establishing a pass-through tariff to support RES, creating favorable conditions for the development of RES.
